Community Accessibility Program
The Paleontological Research Institution and its Museum of the Earth are passionately dedicated to ensuring that Earth science education is available to all people! Thus, PRI is proud to present its Community Accessibility Program (CAP). The CAP was developed to ensure taht those of limited resources and/or those with special needs have access to Museum exhibits and programming. The program offers several ways to be a part of all that PRI and its Museum of the Earth have to offer:
Winter Free Days - Free admission on the third Sundays of January, February, and March. Mothers and Fathers are free to play too with a free day of admission for them on their honorary days in May and June.
Community Day - A free day for residents of Tompkins County to explore the Museum, its exhibits, and our programs. We offer fossil and natural history based arts and crafts, educational programs, tours of our exhibits, snacks, and music. The Museum collaborates with several local businesses and Discovery Trail members to add to the event.
Story Contest - Offered bi-annually in the winter and summer, the story contest provides an opportunity to win a two-year household membership to PRI and its Museum of the Earth.
Agency Memberships - These memberships allow community agencies to give their constitutents, consumers, or clients, access to the Museum of the Earth. The agency is a member of the Museum and receives all the benefits of membership. Two membership cards are given to the organization for it to manage visits to the Museum (up to 10 guests per visit), participation in Museum programming, and merchandise discounts. Agency memberships are available to not-for-profit organizations (501c3) and government agencies offering human, social and/or educational services.
