Benthic Foraminifera
The PRI microfossil collection began with the collection of Helen Jeanne Plummer which was transferred to PRI in 1952. The collection consists of approximately 5,000 foraminiferal slides, including approximately 600 type specimens, and more than 10,000 washed residues, mostly from the Paleogene of the U.S. Gulf Coast. Other important microfossil collections include samples taken by Dorothy Palmer and others while working for oil companies in such localities as Cuba, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
