Minute 319 Project

The Minute 319 Project

PRI researcher Greg Dietl and two Cornell graduate students, Jansen Smith and Steve Durham, recently traveled to El Golfo de Santa Clara, Mexico in the northern Gulf of California as part of an NSF-funded RAPID project to collect baseline samples of benthic mollusk communities.

The samples Greg and his team collected will provide a benchmark for evaluating the success of the release of engineered pulse flows of the Colorado River that began in March as part of a landscape-scale experiment known as Minute 319 negotiated between the United States and Mexico to restore the spring floods that once reached the delta.
